We made it.  Crikey.  It was long.

After a happy/sad farewell to our little piece of paradise, we were sister-chauffeured to the airport (thanks Sis), everything went smoothly - the Singapore flight to Singapore on the A380 was AWESOME!  So much room down the back of the plane - arrived pretty fresh in the evening in Singapore to a great hotel with THE BEST SHOWER I'VE EVER HAD!!  OMG - it was like standing under the Iguacu Falls - SO SO SO GOOD.  A wander around Singapore the next morning - and another shower was needed (oh the humidity).  Then the next leg.

Dear lord.  The 13 hour leg in economy.  On a smaller plane.  Gruesome, it looked a lot like the movie Nosferatu (dracula horror flick) I watched on the plane!  I was dracula.

But, we made it.  Apart from the immigration system crash when we arrived in Paris, and taking 90 minutes to get out of the airport, and the usual plane tantrum, it actually all went really smoothly.  We are so excited to be heading to Cambridge to see Lily, and of course to eat scones for a couple of days, then back here to our friends in France, get the bikes together and head off on The Big Bike Year.

Welcome to Singapore

Best shower ever - The Iguacu Falls Shower (yes, I'm tacky enough to take a pic)

Mike eating his chausson aux pommes (apple turnover) this morning

I'm having a great time with Orangina, coffee, and a snail at Paul's at the airport.  Yum Yum!

This is where we are now as I type - ready for Cambridge. Bring it on.

5000km - TICK, Mont Saint Michel - TICK, Crazy rainy mud riding - TICK, Normandy - AMAZING!

WOOHOOO - 5000KM!  We did it. MASSIVE LEGENDS!! But let's get down to the journey of the last week.  So much action, so many amazing things to see, so many intense emotions - buckle up for a long post with a billion pics, and even a video.  There are really four parts of the last week, so let's keep things organised and go in order... 1. Leaving Saint Malo and heading to Mont Saint Michel - around 55km We leapt out of bed (not really) early to get on the bike cause we knew we had a long ride ahead with unstable weather.  To our delight after climbing our way out of Saint Malo, waving to the local hunter who passed us with his sausage dog and shotgun, we were in gorgeous farming country, the sun started to come out, and when we crested the final hill of the morning could see the famous Mont Saint Michel out there in the sea waiting for us.  We couldn't believe it - we were only 20km in and with the clear weather we could see all the way to this gorgeous 100...

Mike's Update on "Life on the Road"

It's me again... Mike, thought it was time to update that map ... here's the new one... that's 1,750km of action! Yep...as predicted by Serena last time... we're currently on a double rest day in Jönköping (on a huge lake - kind of a beach side vibe ... downtown is pretty .. see pics below), it's about half way to our Swedish target of Stockholm. I'm so amazed that we're here, I've been looking at Jönköping on a map for months... it's surreal! We seem to be settling into a pretty great routine. Every day is amazing and huge and full of challenges and surprises and incredible beauty, but they all seem to fit into a general pattern. Getting up and on the road early, really works for us. We started doing it to avoid rain, but it just seems to really give us a kick start each day. We're making great progress and feeling confident and very happy with the route we chose! Last update we were at the end of our first Route 1 day in Varnamo, camped by the ...

This Is The Way We Do Coastal Swedish Cycling

Right.  I'm on a mission.  It's three nights since the last post and there are no other words for it other than BEST CYCLING EVER!  I'm sitting here at a cute local cafe overlooking the water in a tiny weeny place called Pårp - we camped 1km overnight in the cutest little campground - and we just had a classic Swedish brekkie - pics down below.  Now the reason i'm on a mission is I wanted to get this post done before we head off for our day, you see after much ummmming and ahhhhing we've decided to leave this delightfully beautiful and hedonistic Swedish coastal cycling and head inland.  "Go and do the west coast" everyone said, "It's absolutely stunning", they said.  And they were so right.  We've had 4 glorious nights on the coast now, and we're up for a change of scenery - we've decided to leave Route 1 to Gothenburg and try our luck up the middle of Sweden on our Stockholm.  So, I want to close off this phase before we leave ...
